Amalthea was a goat in the Greek mythology.
According to the stories, Amalthea nursed the god Zeus when he was just a baby, living on Mount Ida in Messara, Krete. In addition to Amalthea's milk, the god was fed honey.[1]
When Amalthea died, Zeus took her skin and wore it as an aegis.[1]
