Hughes (died 1715) was a pirate and the helmsman of Abel Bramah's brig, the Jacobite.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In June 1715, Hughes was piloting the Jacobite off the coast of Cape Bonavista on the island of Cuba, when the Royal Navy frigate HMS Intrigue engaged the brig in combat. Hughes died during the attack and was briefly substituted by Edward Kenway before the ship's gunpowder magazine exploded, killing everyone aboard save Kenway and the British Assassin Duncan Walpole.[1]
