The Kenways' farm in Hatherton

Hatherton was a village, seven miles from Bristol, in England.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

In 1703, the Kenway family moved to a farm on the outskirts of the village from Swansea. Both Bernard and Linette Kenway raised their young son Edward on the farm while they conducted their business with the village locals.[1] At some point in his childhood, Edward experienced a moment of seeing the world light up without opening his eyes when walking through the town.[2]

Within the next eight years, Edward was put to work, as he traveled and sold his parents' wares in the village while Bernard and Linette made more time for themselves. Fortunately, Edward had the gift of talking well with people but developed a drinking habit as well. Soon, Edward grew discontent with his work and wanted to be something better than a farmhand.[1]
