Erik Weisz (1874 – 1926), better known under the stage name of Harry Houdini, was a Hungarian-American magician and escapologist, stunt performer, actor, and film producer.[1]
Biography[edit | edit source]
Unbeknownst to many, the secret behind Houdini's tricks was an Apple of Eden. With its ability to conjure illusions, he was able to "escape" from what he called a "Chinese Water Torture Cell" in 1913.[2] In December 1915, Houdini and his wife Wilhelmina Beatrice Rahner[1] had their photograph taken together.[3] Shortly afterwards, the Templars learned that he had an Apple of Eden and schemed to kill him and take it.[3]
A decade later, they arranged for their agent[3] and McGill University student[4] Jocelyn Gordon Whitehead to be in Houdini's dressing room on 22 October 1926 before his performance at the Princess Theater in Montreal, Quebec. When Whitehead asked a reclining Houdini if it was true that gut punches did not faze him, Houdini casually replied in the affirmative, at which Whitehead abruptly delivered repeated "hammer-like blows below the belt" before Houdini could properly brace for their impacts. He performed with pain and difficulty that night and suffered a fever over the next two days but refused medical treatment.[1]
After passing out but being revived on 24 October during a performance at the Garrick Theater in Detroit, Michigan, Houdini was rushed to Sinai-Grace Hospital, where he died on 31 October, allowing the Templars to claim his Apple. Officially, his autopsy reported his death as appendicitis-related peritonitis[1] brought about by the "accident".[3] He was buried in Queens, New York on 4 November.[1]
Legacy[edit | edit source]
In 2012, the Assassin Clay Kaczmarek collected details on Houdini's assassination while Abstergo Industries held him captive at their Animus Project laboratory in Rome. He then hid the information within the Animus 1.28 in Glyph puzzles for his successor, Desmond Miles, to find.[2][3] Sometime in early September,[5] Desmond solved the puzzle set titled "Descendants", in which Houdini's water cell escape was exposed as the work of an Apple,[2] and the puzzle titled "Hat Trick", in which digital copies of the Houdinis' picture and Harry's grave photo were included with the revelation that his death was covered up.[3] Later that month while in the Animus' Black Room, Desmond found a few pictures of Houdini and other historical figures whom the Templars or their front organization Abstergo Industries had either aided or murdered as they saw fit to further their plans of world domination.[6]
