Lord Guillaume de Roussel was a French noble who was imprisoned in the Conciergerie during the early French Revolution. Similarly to many other nobles who found themselves in the same predicament, he was extorted by the Templars, who demanded money and valuables in return for their aid.[1]
On 4 January 1791, during a meeting between the Templars Arpinon, Duchesneau, and Charles Gabriel Sivert, de Roussel was said to have "generously agreed to [their] price of forty percent", which Arpinon commented was an act of desperation on de Roussel's part.[1]
