Gilbert Fowler was a British criminal, living and operating in London at the time of the Victorian era.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Fowler was the youngest of twelve children, and was ignored and neglected to such a degree that his parents never bothered to bless him with a Christian name or proper education. By the time he grew fourteen, he had started calling himself Gilbert.[1]
At some point, Fowler joined the criminal street gang known as the Blighters. Still feeling resentful towards the neglect he suffered at society's hands, Fowler took to destroying printing houses throughout London, which eventually caught the attention of the Metropolitan Police Service.[1]
Sergeant Frederick Abberline worked with Jacob and Evie Frye, two Assassins, to capture Fowler near a printing shop in the Strand, and bring him to justice.[1]
