George IV (George Augustus Frederick; 12 August 1762 – 26 June 1830) was King of the United Kingdom from 29 January 1820 to 26 June 1830. He succeeded his father George III and was in turn succeeded by his younger brother, William IV.[1]
During his reign, George continued the renovation of the Buckingham House first initiated by his father. He later set his mind on converting it into a palace and hired the architect John Nash. When Nash got carried away with building the new palace and greatly exceeded the initial budget, George fired him in 1829. He died the following year, before the palace was completed.[2]
