Empedocles (c. 494 – c. 434 BCE) was a Greek philosopher who lived in Greek Sicily during the 5th century BCE. He recorded his ideas in the poetic work, On Nature.
In 1193, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad quoted the philosopher to Maria Thorpe while she was his captive.[1]
During the early 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze retrieved a hidden copy of this book in Constantinople.[2]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- While a copy of the poem is retrieved in-game by Ezio, in real life the book remains lost, with only a quarter of it having survived in fragments.
