Djon the Woodsman was a Norse man from Rygjafylke, Norway who lived in the 9th century.
In the 870s, Djon lost his mother, Asa, and had to take responsibility for caring for his father, Hysing, whose mind was deteriorating. Djon soon grew tired and hopeless after Hysing's condition seemed to worsen. Djon caught his father with a guest, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir, who was told of Hysing's condition. With Djon's help, Eivor decided on how to treat Hysing on her visit. After Hysing left them, she commended Djon on his courage and honor of taking care of his father.
