Dark Horse Comics is an American comics publishing house, as well as one of the largest independent comic book publishers.[1]

Dark Horse Comics was created in 1986 by Mike Richardson in Milwaukie, Oregon. Dark Horse Comics publishes, and is best known for, many licensed titles such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Star Wars, as well as creator-owned comics such as Hellboy and The Umbrella Academy.[1]
In September 2019, Dark Horse Comics approached Cavan Scott and asked him to travel to Montreal, Canada to work on a secret project. During his time in the studio, Scott was walked through the basics of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, the next title in the Assassin's Creed series at that time. Production on the comic began almost immediately.[2] First announced on July 2020, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla – Song of Glory was written by Scott, with artwork by Martín Túnica and Michael Atiyeh.[3] From that point on, Dark Horse would continue publishing media related to Assassin's Creed.
