If anyone can help make an "era" icon for materials, it would be much appreciated xD. Try to provide sources for etymology whenever possible, even if it's an OOU source. I know ithat can be too much trouble though.

A copper ore

Copper is a chemical element with a pinkish-orange hue and is commonly used as an alloy component, most notably bronze.[1] The metal is malleable and has high thermal and electrical conductivity, bending and melting with ease.[2]

History[edit | edit source]

In ancient Rome, the metal was mostly imported from Cyprus, after which the metal was named.[2]

In 11th century England, copper was used by the Anglo-Saxons for things such as horse stirrups[3] and knife handles.[4]

During the Fourth Crusade, the Venetian Navy stole the four bronze horses as ornaments for the Basilica San Marco when the Crusaders captured Constantinople.[5]

In the 15th and 16th centuries, the Spanish Brotherhood of Assassins utilized the metal to forge a number of weapons and armors for use against the Spanish Templars.[6]

During the American Revolutionary War in the British colonies, the Kanien'kehá:ka Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton traded and used copper, among other things.[7]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood description of Copper Ore references the origins of copper's name: what began as aes cyprium ("metal of Cyprus/Cyprian metal") later evolved into various forms, among them the English copper.[8]
