Charioteer of Delphi

The Charioteer of Delphi was a statue located in the Sanctuary of Delphi in Phokis, Greece.

History[edit | edit source]

Polyzelos, the Tyrant of Gela, dedicated this statue to commemorate his victory at the chariot race during the Pythian Games of 470s BCE.[1]

The statue stood in front of the temple of Apollo and it was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra during the Peloponnesian War.[2]
