Canada is the northernmost sovereign state in North America, originating from the cession of New France to the Kingdom of Great Britain after France's defeat in the Seven Years' War.

History[edit | edit source]

During the Seven Years' War, the Assassin-turned-Templar Shay Cormac sailed the Canadian Atlantic aboard his ship, the Morrigan, and traveled to settlements, such as St. John's in Newfoundland.[1]

Robert Faulkner worked as a young merchant in Halifax, Nova Scotia before leaving to join the Colonial Assassins in 1753. As Connor's first mate on the Aquila, Faulkner helped protect the trade route to Louisbourg from privateer ships such as the Prospector, and sailed with him to Oak Island to find William Kidd's treasure.[2]

Connor's apprentice Stephane Chapheau hailed from Quebec. During the American Revolutionary War, the Assassins made sure to prevent the Continental Army from seizing control of Quebec, as their colonists did not want independence.[3]

During the 19th century, the Templars were present in Canada as the Château Clique, and attempted to eradicate French culture. Their influence over the government was criticized by the journalist and Assassin Ludger Duvernay, who founded the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society to promote the secession of Quebec.[4]

In 2012, an Assassin cell was located in the city of Whistler, British Columbia. During a call with Gavin, the team's leader Janice requested additional team members, but she and her fellow Assassins were attacked and killed by Templars led by Daniel Cross.[5] Later that year, northeastern Canada was among the areas heavily affected by a solar wind.[2]

In 2013, an Abstergo Entertainment office building in Montreal focused on the Sample 17 Project.[6]
