Ditch Sluice of the Fief

The Ditch Sluice of the Fief was a water channel in the Harbiyah district of Baghdad, located next to the Greeks' Gate and the Nestorian Monastery within the Zubaydiyah sub-district.

In the 860s, the Hidden One Basim ibn Ishaq travelled to the guarded sluice to perform a contract for his friend Dervis, who sought an item hidden amongst a boat's cargo. Basim infiltrated the area and stole the boat, rowing it out of the area to a nearby pier, from where Dervis' men would recover the cargo.[1]
