The Tang dynasty (唐朝, 618 – 690, 705 – 907), formally the Great Tang (大唐),[1][2] was an imperial dynasty of China that ruled from 618 to 907, with an interregnum between 690 and 705. It was considered a high point in Chinese civilization and a golden age of cosmopolitan culture.[1][3] The territory of the Tang stretched as far west as the distant Western Regions of Central Asia.[3]

The An Lushan Rebellion in the 750s which saw the involvement of the Order of the Ancients and the Hidden Ones led to the decline of central authority in the later half of the dynasty.[4]
