An ancient stele in a tomb

The ancient stelae were carved stone tablets containing messages that were located in ancient tombs in Greece world of the 5th century BCE.

These slabs of stone were carved with curious symbols, and when the Spartan misthios Kassandra found them during the Peloponnesian War, they reacted to her presence.[1]
