The Cathedral-Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France, also called Saint Louis Cathedral, is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans. Situated in the heart of the city, it is located next to Jackson Square and looks out over the Mississipi River.
The cathedral came into being as a small wooden church in 1718, which would be subject to numerous expansions and reformations over the years.
In 1777, the Assassin Aveline de Grandpré went to the cathedral to be formally inducted into the Templar Order by her stepmother, Madeleine de L'Isle. Unbeknownst to the Templars however, Aveline's induction was a ruse to root out the Templar branch in New Orleans and eliminate its most powerful members. - In reality, the cathedral's recognizable bell tower had not been constructed until 1819.
- One of Jeanne's diary pages could be found at the top of the bell tower.
