The Barada is the main river in Damascus, Syria.
Flowing from the northern end of the city's poor district to the western end of the rich district, it gave the city a distinctive appearance. Moreover, the river creates a huge oasis called Ghouta outside of the city walls. This oasis is a main source of the long and prosperous history of Damascus.[1]
