The Monument of Militiades was monument featuring a group of bronze statues located in the southeastern corner of the Sanctuary of Delphi in Phokis, Greece.
History[edit | edit source]
The monument was erected by Athenians in 465 BCE to commemorate the Battle of Marathon, which occurred in 490 BCE during the Greco-Persian Wars, and especially the strategos Miltiades, who is best known for his role in the conflict.[1]
During the Peloponnesian War, the monument was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[2]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
