The Jacobite

The Jacobite was a brig captained by the pirate Abel Bramah up until June 1715.[1] That year, the Royal Navy frigate HMS Intrigue engaged her off the coast of Cape Bonavista in Cuba, and though the Jacobite managed to sink her significantly bigger foe, the frigate's shots had set the pirate ship's gunpowder magazine alight.[2]

Despite the crew's efforts to extinguish the blaze, the powder ignited and destroyed the Jacobite. The only crewman to survive was Edward Kenway, who made his way ashore and was joined soon after by the British Assassin Duncan Walpole, who had killed Bramah the night before.[2]
