Mob Justice was a virtual representation of one of Ezio Auditore da Firenze's genetic memories, relived by Desmond Miles in 2012 through the Animus 2.0.[2]

Description[edit | edit source]

After having reobtained the Apple of Eden, Ezio Auditore made his way to the Palazzo della Signoria, where the angry mob of Florentine citizens had taken Girolamo Savonarola.

Dialogue[edit | edit source]

Savonarola being tied to a stake

The crowd carried Savonarola to the stake, to be burned.

  • Savonarola: God bears witness to this sacrilege! That you would handle his prophet this way! Blasphemers! Heretics! You'll burn for this. DO YOU HEAR ME? You'll BURN!

Savonarola was tied to the stake and the fire was lit.

  • Savonarola: O Lord, show mercy... Deliver me from evil's embrace... Surrounded as I am by sin, I cry out to you for salvation.
  • Ezio: No one deserves to die in such pain.

Ezio made his way towards Savonarola.

  • Savonarola: Infelix ego, omnium auxillio destitutus, qui coelum terramque offendi: quo ibo? Quo me vertem? Ad quem confugiam? Quis mei miserebitur? Ad coelum levare oculos non audeo. Quia ei graviter peccavi. In terra refugium non invenio. Quia si scandalum...
(Unhappy me, devoid of any help, I who offended heaven and earth: where will I go? Where shall I turn? Should I flee, and where? Who will take pity on me? I do not dare to lift my eyes to heaven. Because I grievously sinned against it. On earth, I find no refuge. Because if the offense...)

Ezio jumped up towards the stake and stabbed Savonarola in the head, before giving the monk his last rites.

  • Savonarola: It's you. I knew this day would come. Please, show mercy!
  • Ezio: I have. Va' ora – che sia il tuo Dio a giudicarti. Requiescat in pace. (Go now – that you may be judged by your God. Rest in peace.)

Ezio walked away from Savonarola's lifeless body and stood on the stage, where he called out to the audience before him.

Ezio addressing the crowd
  • Ezio: Silenzio. Silenzio. (Silence. Silence.) Twenty-two years ago, I stood where I stand now – and watched my loved ones die, betrayed by those I had called friends. Vengeance clouded my mind. It would have consumed me, were it not for the wisdom of a few strangers, who taught me to look past my instincts. They never preached answers, but guided me to learn from myself. We don't need anyone to tell us what to do; not Savonarola, not the Medici. We are free to follow our own path. There are those who will take that freedom from us, and too many of you gladly give it. But it is our ability to choose – whatever you think is true – that makes us human... There is no book or teacher to give you the answers, to show you the path. Choose your own way! Do not follow me, or anyone else.

Ezio descended from the stage and joined his uncle, La Volpe, Paola and Machiavelli on the other side of the crowd. Mario patted him on the shoulder and the group left the scene.

Outcome[edit | edit source]

Savonarola was assassinated at Ezio's hand and Florence was freed from the former's oppressive and controlling rule.
