Otto Schmidt (died 2012) was an Operations executive in the Lineage Research and Acquisition division of Abstergo Industries, and a member of the Inner Sanctum of the Templar Order.[1]
Biography[edit | edit source]
In October 2012, details of the Inner Sanctum of the Templar Order were made available to recruits of the second stage of the Animi Training Program. Kept in a dossier of Abstergo Files, the one pertaining to the Inner Sanctum was entitled "File.0.17\Ins_InnerSanctum" and included the names and positions of all its members, Schmidt being one of them. Revealing his position as the Operations executive of the Lineage Research and Acquisition division.[1]
Sometime following this, Schmidt was killed under unknown circumstances; the information was later leaked by Erudito and was covered up by Abstergo CEO Alan Rikkin. In the same report, an associate of Schmidt's, Anson Peake, was also noted to be missing.[2] Uncovering his Inner Sanctum status, even Erudito had no answer for what really happened to Schmidt.[3]

Otto Schmidt is an unseen character first introduced in the 2011 video game, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, through the Abstergo Files accessible in the multiplayer story.
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Otto is a masculine German name, originating as an Old High German short form of Germanic names beginning in aud- meaning "wealth, prosperity."[4]
Schmidt is a common German occupational surname derived from the German word schmied meaning "blacksmith, metalworker."[5]
