Æthelstan was an Anglo-Saxon thegn living in East Anglia during the 9th century.

In 864, acting as an agent for King Edmund, Æthelstan secretly worked with fellow thegn Leofwine against the ealdorman Lerion after learning of his plans to overthrow the Mercian king Burgred.
