The Dienekes actor was an Elean actor who was meant to play the part of the Spartan officer Dienekes in Thespis' play inspired by the Battle of Thermopylae in the 420s BCE.
Biography[edit | edit source]
The man was nervous by nature, and even more so when he became indebted to the Spartan general Taureas. Tasked to find Thespis' missing actors, the Spartan misthios Kassandra sought out the actor, learning about his predicament, and helping him with it.[1]
Due to Kassandra's intervention, Thespis' play had its Dienekes in time.[2]
