==Biography==
One of the Assassins based at a [[Assassin bureau|outpost]] near Akame Shi Waterfalls in [[Iga]], Sanjo was among those summoned by Tsuyu to the [[Old Kofun|kofun]] in [[Izumi Settsu]] and prevent the theft of the [[Imperial Regalia of Japan|Imperial Regalia]]<ref name="Iga Assassin Outpost">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' – [[Iga Assassin Outpost]]</ref> by the [[Shinbakufu]]. The resulting battle was a massacre which ended in the slaughter of many Assassins and the lost of the regalia.<ref name="The Meaning of the Blade">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' – [[The Meaning of the Blade]]</ref>

Sanjo himself was heavily wounded after being shot but managed to return to the Iga outpost, where he wrote a final letter addressing his former lover, expressing his regret for leaving them to join the brotherhood. Not long after writing the letter, Sanjo ultimately passed away from his wounds.<ref name="Iga Assassin Outpost" />

Years later in 1582, Sanjo's letter was recovered and read by Tsuyu's daughter [[Fujibayashi Naoe]], who sought to learn more about the ''Kakushiba ikki''.<ref name="Iga Assassin Outpost" />
