In 1509, [[Grand Master]] of the [[Byzantine Rite of the Templar Order|Byzantine Templars]] Prince [[Ahmet]] and his fellow [[Templars|Templar]] [[Hasan Pasha]] stayed at his palace after hearing about Ahmet's brother [[Selim I|Selim]] defeating a company of Templars at Trebizond. Ahmet later discussed his consideration to an invitation from fellow Templar [[Manuel Palaiologos]], who claimed responsibility of the surge of [[Mercenary|mercenaries]] in [[Constantinople]] being his own Templars, with Pasha. Ahmet recollected to Pasha about how his uncle [[Cem]] believed in an idea of the whole region being run by Templars, similar to Palaiologos' proposal in his invitation.
