The territory comprised that of two existing Japanese provinces: {{wiki|Izumi Province|Izumi}} refering to the southern part of the region and with [[Sakai]] being the province's major trading and commercial port; and {{wiki|Settsu Province|Settsu}}, the northern part of the region that includes the cities of [[Osaka]], [[Amagasaki]], [[Katano]] and [[Takatsuki]].<ref name="ACSH" />
