At some point during its operation, miner [[Henri Mulio]] discovered a long-lost [[Templars|Templar]] treasure in the tunnels, quickly re-hiding it further in, though some rumors about something important having been found did circulate among the workers.<ref name="Mines">''[[Le Secret des Mines]]''</ref>

Having produced a large quantity of coal for several decades, the site eventually ceased operations in 1960. In 1980, the mining site was backfilled and, in 2012, the [[Louvre-Lens]] museum would be built atop it, with the grove of trees in front of the building's main entrance being located on the site of the former mine shaft entrance, and with a secret gallery linking it to some remaining tunnels below. In the 2020s, [[Assassins|Assassin]] ally [[Simon Mulio]] infiltrated the museum during his search for the treasure, managing to uncover its hiding place. Knowing he had been under Abstergo surveillance, he used the tunnels to move the treasure through to [[Lens station]], where he made his escape.<ref name="Mines"/>
