The Terrace of the Lions on Delos

The Terrace of the Lions is a monument of nine marble lion statues located north of the Sanctuary of Apollo on the island of Delos, Greece.

History[edit | edit source]

The statues, originally numbering nine, date back to the 7th century BCE and face the location of the Sacred Lake.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War, the landmark was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra on some instances.[2][3]
