Palm Tree of Eurymedon

The Palm Tree of Eurymedon was a palm tree made of bronze, erected within the Sanctuary of Delphi in Phokis, Greece. Following the Delian League's victory over the Persians at the Battle of the Eurymedon, which ended the Persian threat for a while, an Athenian representative gifted the monument to the Sanctuary in celebration.[1][2] Sometime during the Peloponnesian War, Kassandra the Eagle-Bearer visited the monument.[3]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The "bronze palm tree" related to the victory of Eurymedon survives only in contemporary classical Greek accounts, like those of the geographer Pausanias' ten-part Description of Greece.
