The Amphitheater of Cyrene, also known as the Theater of Apollo was a theatre situated behind the Temple of Apollo in Cyrene.
In 47 BCE, the theatre was visited by the Medjay Bayek of Siwa, during his pursue of a killer. Arriving there, he discovered the body of Metrobius, a famed Roman actor, who had been murdered.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The Discovery Tour mode states that the architecture of the theater is Roman in style, however, this is incorrect since it was built by Greeks from the 6th century BCE throughout the Classical and Hellenistic periods.[2]
The Cyrene theater model and assets are also reused in the Theater of Alexandria.
