Alkmene is was the mother of Herakles by Zeus in Greek mythology.

Behind the scenes

The Garden of Kynosarges was dedicated to Alkmenein, Herakles, and his nephew Iolaos by its builder, the hero Didymos. ^{[citation needed]}
