Carroll was a mathematician and a photographer in addition to being a gifted writer of poetry and prose. He probably won't serve a purpose in the main story but I think it would be cool to see him in side missions(and not in the wretched Paris Side Stories manner I hope).
By any measure of logic, Karl Marx should be an Assassin, but I doubt that's something Ubisoft would want to go. I definitely can't see him being a Templar(but then I don't see, and still don't see, how they made Robespierre one - the fact they had to severely falsify history to do so proves my point). Marx's writings on capitalism came directly out of living and observing Victorian London at first hand.
