I disagree Aveline proved creating female skins for Arno would have been easy. You can't compare a PSVita character - the protagonist of her own production - sharing her console counterpart's animations to a next-gen character who has to possess subtler and more realistic movements. There's also the creation of feminine versions of the countless variations for Arno's costume to consider.

Jonathan Cooper, the most noted critic of Ubisoft's decision to axe female skins, oversaw some bad gender-neutral animation in Mass Effect 2, scroll down here to Dude Looks Like A Lady Only Vice-Versa (probably nsfw) or here for examples. Poorly done representation

Anyway, as for this notion Ubisoft is somehow hiding behind Aveline to prove they are diverse, I still don't see how given Connor, Adewale and Altair were pointed out alongside her in the official statement, and I guess we'll have to disagree on this point. Perhaps the series has become less diverse because of the addition of Haytham, Edward and Arno, but then the minority heroes have been added to with Adewale, Arbaaz and Jot. For me, this franchise has been so wonderful with representation, it's educated and enlightened me on subjects like Native Americans, placee relationships and even transgender people as you'll recall. But I'll always look at the world as a glass half-full.
