Are we gonna see the twins as children? That would be cute. Well the Crawley (if it is Crawley) sequences would likely be tutorials and sequence 2 might tell us why/how the twins are designated to london or something. I have no problem with any kind of place. I just hope the timeline isnt just focused on a single year bec that would be boring
I think it's pretty likely we'll see them as children, since that's kind of been a staple in the series. Then again, I might prefer just spending time with Evie and Jacob while they're in their late teens or something, to get to know them a bit better before they go off to save London. I hope there'll be some sidequests to do, or characters to meet, so they have some ties to Crawley before leaving it.

As for it being only a single year, I think that's been pretty much confirmed. There might be a small section at the beginning or end that takes place later, but I expect the bulk of the story to take place in 1868. I don't mind so much tbh, it might even make the story more cohesive.

Not sure if we can really call it a staple to be honest. The only protagonists whom we controled as children were Connor, Arno and Aveline. Not sure if Ezio really counts seeing as we barely control him as a newborn infant and then fastforward to him at age 17, which doesn't really count as a child.

As for the twins' backstory, I think we'll probably see play them as either children or teenagers, maybe even both. I also think their father's death will be shown, as he is confirmed to have died sometime in or before 1868.

Perhaps we'll play with the twins as children in Sequence 1 and teenagers in Sequence 2.

It might not all take place in Crawley, perhaps they travelled in their childhood to various places. Just because they were born there doesn't mean they stayed there all the way up to young adulthood.
