So, as I made abundantly clear before Syndicate's release, I did not get the game when it came out. And for some reason it turned out to be good. Why does the world hate me? Anyway, I finally got the game a few days ago (no collector's edition this time), and I just started playing it today. Obviously I haven't really payed much attention to the series, as I got frustrated with how samey it looked (this resulted in me selling all my collector's items on ebay and only keeping the essential stuff e.g. games & books), but I am happy to say that the game isn't half bad. It's nothing revolutionary, but it succeeds in doing what Unity should have done to begin with. Most of the problems are gone, but obviously they had to sacrifice innovation for a year to get this right. The benefit, however, of ignoring the franchise is that it feels naturally fresher. So, to sum it up, I have bought the season pass and I even decided to get chronicles china too, and I am interested in what will come next. I still haven't finished the game yet, though, so I'm not too impatient about them announcing the next one soon.

Now, on top of getting Syndicate, I have also decided to invest my money in the new comic series they have going. I had no idea until recently that they were planning to keep going for three years, so I have subscribed to get every issue of the series each month. Just waiting now to get the first three issues in the post so I can catch up. I have no concerns regarding the quality of this series because I have loved all the previous stuff and I enjoy seeing the lore get expanded, since the games seem so reluctant to acknowledge their routes.

More interestingly and unexpectedly, I have started to become sold on the concept of the AC movie. Finding out that it is actually canon to the games and the rest of the expanded lore makes me certain that they can't screw it up. Also, all I hear and see from the film is appealing to me immensly.

All in all, I think I can safely say that I'm invested in the series again. Hopefully next years game keeps me the same. That's not to say that I'm going to start posting frequently on here again like I used to, but I will enjoy it away from here. I'm getting older now and I don't have the time to immerse myself in conversation on here much anymore. I will pop in occasionally, as I am doing now, but it will unlikely ever be like it used to be.<ac_metadata title="Back in the game - both literally and metaphorically"> </ac_metadata>
