I'm only a surface level Assassin's Creed fan, but the game can only take place between 700 - 600 BC if it's "ancient" Egypt, and if other games will take place in Greece and/or Rome.

Be wary of rumors my friends. I'm not saying they're wrong, but 4chan has been, scratch that, is known for pulling crazy shit. It would only take a small group of "friends," or one dedicated individual, with a single piece of info to knit a wool scarf that could be pulled over everyone's eyes.
