In Reality The Templars Are Christian and the Assassins Are Muslim. but not in the game itself. people need to understand the fact that Assassin's Creed is All lies about the History of the Knights Templar and the Hashashin (Assassins) because in reality: the Templars are protectors of christian pilgrims when the Assassins are Drug Addicted Shia Muslim Hitmen for hire. so in reality: Templars are Not Dictators and the Assassins are not Freedom Fighters. im a catholic christian myself and i took Assassin's Creed too seriously that it made me want to join a Protest group in france against Ubisoft Called: Crusaders Against Ubisoft because Ubisoft is antagonizing christianity and is potraying muslim terrorists as heroes. ubisoft should of thinked twice before they chose the Assassins as the heroes and protagonists instead of the Templars as Villains and Antagonists. so its a true fact Assassin's Creed Is Anti-Christian. the Uneducated brainashed Fanboys and fangirls of the game dont understand the fact that assassins creed is based on an Islamic Group called the Hashashins. read a history book everyone and you'll understand the Templars are christian heroes and the Assassins are muslim terrorists. HolyTemplarism, please refer to the discussion above as I fear that you may have neglected to read it entirely. I should caution you against simplifying the conflict between the Assassins and Templars as one of Islam vs. Christianity, historically and fictionally. As aforementioned, the Templars and Assassins in the series are largely atheistic organizatons even if you might argue that they are ultimately based on respectively Christian and Islamic organizations. Moreover, both religions historically were not always unified and even to this present day are not unified. They are divided among many denominations which in certain time periods have waged war against one another (e.g. Catholics vs. Protestants, Sunni vs. Shi'a). There have certainly been moments in history where moderate Muslims and Christians aligned more with one another than with extremists of either faith, a fact that is still true today.
Finally, I must inform you that the historical Assassins were not hitmen-for-hire. They were their own independent state (i.e. a country) which, owing to their small size, had to wage war through assassinations rather than fielding armies. Much like our fictional Assassins, they refused to harm innocent civilians and therefore do not qualify one of the conventional checks for being a terrorist organization. They still exist today and are called the Nizari, and they are well-integrated with Western society with the promotion of women's rights, secularism, pluralism, and religious tolerance as one of their goals.
