I've been listen to a few interviews with Ashraf Ismail about ACO, and when talking about the Great Pyramid in interviews he has alluded to a certain mystery underneath pyramid. This leads to believe that there is an First Civilization vault beneath the Great Pyramid of Giza, it wouldn't be the first time that there is a First Civilization compartment underneath a well known landmark as we had the Colosseum Vault. Though since this is in Egypt I'm sure they would play around with Ancient Egyptian gods and mythology and find a way to merge that with like First Civilization lore. This led me to hypothesise that there is a vault underneath the Great Pyramid of Giza which is a First Civilization version of Duat and that it also could contain the First Civilization Piece of Eden, The Ankh.
Duat was the realm of the dead in ancient Egyptian mythology. The deity Osiris was believed to be the lord of the underworld since he personified rebirth and life after death, being the first mummy as depicted in the Osiris Myth. This would be a good reason for Ankh to be buried with the Isu Osiris as his wife, Isis could have buried the Ankh with him in the 'Duat Vault' after he died a second time.
The Duat was the region through which the sun god Ra battled Apep, the Egyptian god of chaos who appears as a giant serpant. This 'Duat Vault' could also be the location where Bayek battles the Giant Serpant in the, most likely some kind hallucination or illusion caused by First Civilizaton technology.
In the Ancient Egyptian scroll the Book of Amduat, the underworld consists of 12 regions signifying the 12 hours of the sun god's journey through Duat, battling Apep in order to bring order back to the earth in the morning. The deceased who qualify would have their souls undergo a long journey and face many perils before reaching Paradise. Once they arrive, they enter through a series of gates. The exact number of gates varies according to sources, some say 15, some 21. They are uniformly described as guarded by evil demons armed with knives.
In Origins this could have Bayek going through a series of First Civilization gates with each bringing it's own challenge or puzzle, with Apep being one of them until Bayek overcomes the last challenge and enters the chamber of Osiris to finally discover the Ankh. They could also play around with the historical Book of the Dead, and have players collect Isu scrolls (Papyri) in the open world or in main missions so that it could give Bayek the information he needs to open each gate, similar in gameplay to us collecting the Codex pages in Assassin's Creed II. In Egyptian mythology to pass through each gate, the name of the demon had to be recited correctly so perhaps the name could be the information we retrieve when collecting Isu Book of the Dead papyri. Speaking a word aloud is also what allowed entry into the Colosseum Vault in Rome<ac_metadata title="AC Theory: Duat the Underground Isu Vault"> </ac_metadata>
