the apprenticeship progam needs you to have proven yourself before being allowed (I think it is 500 edits, among which 1 major edit). After that, you can sign up for an interview, and based on the interview staff will decide if you are "worthy" to enter the apprenticeship. Then you'll be assigned to a master (staff member) who will teach you how to be a "good contributor"
