Assassinate is an online multiplayer mode in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. It was added with the Animus Project Update 3.0 downloadable content, and is currently one of the most popular multiplayer game modes available.

Gameplay

This game mode is a free-for-all game mode which requires players to differentiate between NPC and player, and kill their chosen target. Players only accumulate points if successful targets have been chosen. Players do not get points for selecting and then killing civilians.

Starting Out

At the start of the game, players are given a modified Manhunt compass that shows all players close by. In order to obtain a contract, you must use the lock system to lock on to persona in order to initiate a contract with them. The image of the target will then appear in the upper-right corner of the screen along with a detection meter. Once the contract has been established, the Manhunt-like compass will be replaced with the regular Wanted compass and will start tracking your chosen target. Pursuers are obtained in this mode when you are locked onto by another player. When they lock, you will start glowing red, and the red triangle counter lights up. In this mode you can have up to seven Pursuers, unlike in Wanted.

Strategies

Always be careful to pick the right target to assassinate. You can lock on to NPCs by mistake, and killing them will expose you to other nearby players. A very special feature in this game mode is called “Exposing." When you are locked onto by your pursuer, if you manage to lock on to them, they will become exposed. When this happens, their detection meter will drop all the way down to Discreet to the point where if your pursuers move any more after that moment in high profile, they will initiate a chase. If a player can target their pursuer, their pursuer's detection meter will instantly drop, and if they use high profile, it will start a chase with their target. [[Category: ]]
