Well well well.

Seems that James Kid is in fact Mary Read in her male disguise. She was the other famous female pirate (or piratess if you prefer) who was also a partner and pirate 'sister' with Anne Bonny. The two were a very dangerous pair when they joined forces and were also in cahoots with Calico Jack. Nice to know huh, all?
