Traditional vs. simplified Chinese
Andy, I noticed that you have taken the initiative to lay the foundations for some of the Dynasty-related articles we've been slow at writing. In each of these articles, you give the Chinese characters for the characters' names in simplified Chinese. Because names of characters should be rendered in their native writing, this violates our standards. Although Dynasty is a Mainland Chinese production, the historical figures of the Tang dynasty used traditional Chinese not simplified. The fact that our wiki mandates in-universe (IU) perspective for main content pages also reinforces the fact that native names of characters should be given in the exact writing that the characters themselves would have used. On the other hand, our page on the Assassin's Creed: Dynasty comic itself uses simplified Chinese because it is an out-of-universe (OOU) article which should reflect the Mainland Chinese source of the comic.
If we were to add the hanzi for Mao Zedong's name in his article (and we can), it should be in simplified Chinese. However, Chinese characters unaffiliated with the People's Republic of China where simplified Chinese is officially used should not have their names rendered in simplified. I had hoped that all my corrections should have been an adequate hint to our convention. Please let me know if you have any questions or confusion because I know that not every user is familiar with our IU vs. OOU policy. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 22:10, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
Hey! I just wanted to say thank you for listening in regards to the traditional Chinese usage and also thank you for taking the some time to add the native script variants of names for many other characters. :) Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 10:31, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
Formatting for native scripts of names
Hello again. One of our moderators, Zero-ELEC, suggested via the Abe no Nakamaro page that we simply don't have to indicate the language of the native script of characters' name when we give them. So for example, for a character like Takeda Shingen, he would suggest just writing "Takeda Shingen (武田 信玄; 1521 – 1573)" not "Takeda Shingen (Japanese: 武田 信玄; 1521 – 1573)". I think I would agree with him that this is cleaner. What do you think? Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 00:26, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
Reverted edits
Hello Andy, I just reverted a few of your edits in regards to the Shenlong Revolution which overthrew Wu Zetian for grammatical issues. It's usually much better for an editor to correct the grammar mistakes instead of just undoing the edits, but in this case, I'm too short on time to rewrite the new sections, and left alone, they actually misinform our readers, making it sound like Zhang Yizhi and the Golden Turtles were the ones who ousted Wu Zetian. I'm leaving you a message about it to let you know that your edits were not all wrong, and in fact, I appreciate you taking the initiative to try to update our articles with new Dynasty info. You're free (and we would even encourage you) to write what you were trying to write again. :) Just make sure you check them for proper grammar. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 19:55, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
