AC: Rebellion Dialogues
Aguilar's Journal
Alvarado has shown his true face! He slew Ramírez and escaped with the third piece of the Staff of Eden, cursing us all. He plans to claim Torquemada's reward for himself and disappear.
Alvarado may know the location of the second piece, which we took from Ojeda at the Monastery of St. Lucia. Our allies at the University of Salamanca will not be prepared if he finds them. We must go there at once!
We will travel to Salamanca and stop Alvarado from getting the final Staff piece. If he does, it could be disastrous, as he will surely give the artifact to Torquemada. This could very well render us incapable of opposing the Inquisition.
We must protect the Staff, and, if possible, repay the turncloak for his treachery.
Dialogue
The Spanish Assassins met outside the doors of the university.
- Aguilar: That traitor Alvarado already has two Staff pieces. If he finds the last one...
- Spanish Assassin 1: We have to hope he hasn't learned it is hidden here.
- Spanish Assassin 2: The scholars will not be able to stop him. We must hurry.
The Spanish Assassins made their way through the university, evading or eliminating the Spanish soldiers patrolling the school's halls. They soon reached the library, where they found a trapdoor at the far end of the room. Descending into the chamber, they saw a wounded scholar standing beside an open chest on a pedestal.
- Aguilar: Oh no. My friend, what happened here?
- Scholar: Alvarado... He... claimed to be one of you. He knew we were hiding a piece of the Staff. But... I refused to give it to him. He... he stabbed me in the back.
- Aguilar: The animal! Did he find it? Does he have the final piece?
- Scholar: I... hrnh... I fear he does. I could not stop him.
- Aguilar: Peace, brother. You gave your life for our Creed. You will not be forgotten.
- Scholar: Th–Thank... you...
The scholar succumbed to his wound and collapsed dead on the floor. Aguilar knelt to perform the last rites.
- Aguilar: Alvarado is still out there. He cannot hide from us. We need to run him down before he can give the Staff's final piece to Torquemada.
Outcome
The Spanish Assassins rushed to protect the scholars watching over the last piece of the Staff of Eden, only to find that Alvarado had arrived ahead of them and had taken the fragment by force before fleeing again.

Pieces of Silver was an altered representation of one of Aguilar de Nerha's genetic memories.Aguilar's Journal
We were too late. Alvarado slew our allies at Salamanca and took the Staff piece.
The traitor went to ground afterward and picking up his trail has been greatly vexing. The Inquisition has influenced the Royal tercios to flood the countryside.
We have been blindly groping after Alvarado's trail while dodging Royal patrols. We may finally have a lead.
It seems Alvarado has been hiding out in some old ruins between Salamanca and Ávila. We make for his hideout, where we will finally corner Alvarado and pay him his just reward.
Dialogue
The Spanish assassins arrived at Alvarado's hideout in the ruins near Salamanca.
- Assassin 1: Finally! We've cornered the bastard!
- Assassin 2: Easy, now. He is still a threat. We must be vigilant.
- Assassin 3: Eyes sharp, blades sharper.
Upon entering a seemingly empty room, the assassins were ambushed.
- Assassin: Soldiers?! It's a damned trap!
- Assassin: No more tricks. Where is that traitor?
After battling their way through the ruins, the assassins finally confront Alvarado.
- Assassin: It's over Alvarado. You cannot run anymore.
- Alvarado: Curse you, you blasted dogs. You want to die so badly? Come on then!
- Alvarado: Ahaha. You've won, Assassins. Fools! You've killed me! What heroes!
- Assassin: Spare us your venom, Alvarado. This is your own doing. Where are the Staff pieces? Speak!
- Alvarado: Bah! I knew you would never leave me be. That's why I arranged this little party for you.
- Assassin: Everything you have done has been for vanity. Last chance, Alvarado: where are the Staff pieces?
- Alvarado: YOU lecture ME on vanity? HA. Why don’t you go ask Torquemada? I’m sure he’d be happy to show them to you. Hahahaha… urgh…
Outcome
The Spanish assassins eliminate the turncoat Diego de Alvarado and learn that the pieces of the shattered Staff of Eden have been delivered to Torquemada.

Stealing Toledo was an altered representation of one of Aguilar de Nerha's genetic memories.Aguilar's Journal
Alvarado has paid for his deceits, but had revealed his final treachery just before his death. Torquemada has all the pieces of the Staff of Eden. Our nightmares are made real.
Torquemada has made no overt use of the Staff, but his Inquisition has increased its presence across the country. Torquemada himself has not appeared in public for years, but we know he is fortifying himself at the Monastery of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Ávila.
We lack the numbers to face the Inquisition directly. We will need to procure outside help. We have cultivated tenuous friendships and some of Spain's mercenary captains. It is time we put these connections to good use.
They will not work for free, though. We know of a royal armory caravan currently camped in the Toledo mountains. We will raid the camp and relieve them of the weapons they are transporting, fresh from the forges. There will be a few rare Toledo swords among them. We should be able to use those to entice one or two mercenary captains.
Dialogue
The Spanish assassins and the mercenaries made their way to the camp of a royal armory caravan at Toledo.
- Mercenary: This is the camp. They're keeping the best stuff in the big chests. Find me some of those fine Toledo swords, and I'll bash some inquisitors for you.
- Assassin: Hm. There are royal soldiers everywhere.
- Mercenary: That's why I'll be leaving this to you. Can't let a head this pretty end up on a spike! Good luck!
Making their way through the camp, the assassins collected 3 crates of weapons.
- Assassin 1: That's it, the last crate of weapons.
- Assassin 2: This should be enough to entice the mercenaries to help us.
- Assassin 3: Let us go, then. Torquemada has already lived too long.
Outcome
Using the purloined weapons, the assassins managed to get the mercenaries' support, ensuring their help in dealing with Torquemada.

Rebellion was an altered representation of one of Aguilar de Nerha's genetic memories.Aguilar's Journal
We have secured the aid of a company of mercenaries and they move to lauch their raid on the Monastery of Saint Thomas. Torquemada has been holed up there for weeks, and we are sure he is well guarded.
While the Inquisition's forces are distracted, the Brotherhood will sneak into the Monastery, retrieve the Staff, and finally kill Torquemada. He has had years to study the Staff; we must steel ourselves. He could bring any manner of devilry to bear.
It has come time to strike the final blow against Torquemada and his followers. It is time to free the people of Spain.
Dialogue
The Spanish assassins arrive at the Monastery of Saint Thomas.
- Assassin 1: The mercenaries have begun their attack. We need to use the distraction to find Torquemada and retrieve the Staff of Eden.
- Assassin 2: We must still be discreet. Torquemada will have kept his best defenders in reserve.
Battling their way through the building, they reach the basement, where they see and battle a soldier seemingly made of light.
- Assassin 1: What in creation was that? What have the Templars uncovered?
- Assassin 2: That… phantom... was no illusion. Such power is not of mortal design...
- Assassin 3: It’s the Staff. We must hurry. If Torquemada has the means to create such creatures, Spain is doomed!
Outcome
The assassins made their way to the tunnels beneath the monastery, discovering one of the Staff's powers along the way.

The Forge was an altered representation of one of Aguilar de Nerha's genetic memories.Aguilar's Journal
Torquemada has found a way to use the Staff to create murderous phantoms, which now block our path! But, we must press on!
Beneath the monastery, there are strange tunnels. The stonework seems beyond the skill of any mortal mason. What has the Inquisition uncovered here? Could these be the ruins of the Ancients?
We must enter these mysterious halls and discover what secrets the Inquisition has unearthed here. It is likely that the Grand Inquisitor waits to face us below.
The chances for victory have grown thin. I am not sure we can win this. But, no matter what happens, we give our lives to the Creed.
Dialogue
Descending into the tunnels from the monastery above, the Spanish assassins prepared themselves for the fights ahead.
- Assassin 1: Torquemada is down here somewhere, using the Staff. We have to find him.
- Assassin 2: He's summoning spirits to fight us! How can we win against that?
- Assassin 3: That is meaningless. Do not give up, brethren! All that matters is our task.
The tunnels led the assassins to The Forge, an ample room where Torquemada and four murderous phantoms waited.
- Torquemada: Ah, Assassins! Come to witness my triumph? I’m sorry, you are too late. I have used the apparatus here to re-forge the Staff of Eden. Now the power of the Ancients is MINE!
- Assassin: No one should wield such power, Torquemada. You die today.
- Torquemada: You Assassins and your arrogance. You think you can defy me? On the threshold of immortality? WE SHALL SEE.
One by one, the ghostly soldires were defeated, angering Torquemada more and more.
- Torquemada: Ugh, why do you continue to resist? Had I the Apple as well, you would be mewling at my feet! Bow to me! I am Order! I am the future of the WORLD!
- Torquemada: Agh! You've seen nothing of my new strength! How will you fare against the true power of Eden!?
The assassins managed to win the fight with the inquisitor.
- Torquemada: What! No! How?
- Assassin: No more questions from you, Inquisitor.
- Torquemada: But... I won! It was MINE! True power... eternal life! You can't DO THIS to me!
- Assassin: Nothing is true...
Through quick use of the hidden blade, Torquemada was no more.
- Assassin: Everything is permitted.
- Assassin: It is finally done. Torquemada will torment Spain no longer.
- Assassin 2: What about the Staff?
- Assassin: It can never fall into Templar hands again. It must be destroyed.
Using the Isu architecture in their favor, the assassins destroy the Staff of Eden for good.
- Assassin: It is done. Let's get out of here before we are buried with the Staff!
After escaping, the assassins return to the brotherhood headquarters.
- María: So we did it. Torquemada is dead. The Ancient vault has disappeared, buried under the Monastery of Saint Thomas, and the Staff of Eden along with it.
- Aguilar de Nerha: We could not have kept it. The risk of it falling into the wrong hands again was too high.
- Luis Chico: At least with Torquemada gone, the Inquisition will die. Spain will finally know some peace.
- Beatriz de Navarrete: If only that were true... Torquemada was the driving force behind the Inquisition, but he is not the only fanatic clergyman in Spain. I'm afraid Isabella will soon appoint a new Grand Inquisitor to take his place. A new puppet of the Templars.
- Luis: Friends! For now, let us savor our victory over our foes. The Staff and Apple of Eden are out of their reach. They have no more horrors with which to threaten us.
- Aguilar: And as long as they still hold power in Spain, we will continue our fight. For the innocents. For peace and freedom. For the Creed!
Outcome
The Spanish assassins eliminated Tomás de Torquemada and destroyed the Staff of Eden that he so coveted, preventing it from falling into the wrong hands.
