As the stars shine above the sky of Earth, more news come to the ACWiki...

To the news!

As one of the most succesful gaming wikis out there and a great source of feedback in the past, we are continuing our tradition of being the testbed to new Wikia features -- the difference this time (unlike with the "no red links" and "other wikis userpage icons" and others in the past) is that we got a heads up XD

A new feature is coming live next week that will be a major change in the way talkpages are handled. The Message Wall", as it is called, will remove the need to enter edit mode whenever leaving someone a message and will make it easier for us to find and create new topics. We'll be able to follow specific conversations instead of entire pages, we won't have to worry about archiving anymore, and new users will "get it" immediately -- no more having to explain how to sign things, or how to reply in a way that sends a notification. It's like the commentary system, but more elaborate and organized.

The test will probably go live next week. When this happens, our existing user talk pages will be archived and protected, so everything will be avaiable and nothing will be deleted ^^ Very few wikis are part of this project, and Wikia Staff will keep a close eye here to make sure the system is to everyone's liking. This feature will eventually go live to all wikis, so this is a great opportunity to help shape the way Message Wall looks and works (so bitch about it while we are testing it -- once it's live, we're stuck with it).

Today we focus specifically on important wikimatters, since we have just one little AC related news since last week.

First of all, we have a new entry on Sammy's little hitchiker's guide to the wiki:

I've *actually* read this one, and I loved how he managed to explain it all in a easy, noob-proof manner. Specially the template sections, which is a little more than common but a crucial aspect of wiki operations nonetheless. So all editors, make sure to check it out!

Next comes the Extended Version of the ACR E3 Trailer! Brought to my attention by User:Cultfanatic, this version don't feature the awesome music of the last one, but a voice-over by Ezio. And it has new scenes ^^

Also, today I would like to do something that's never been done, and while it won't become standard procedure, it's something that can be useful: As many of you know, we have the IRC for all our chats and talk, but some of the staff members are in favor of ALSO enabling the Wikia Chat here on wiki as an alternative to the IRC. They say it is not a substitute for the IRC, but simply another way of getting people to talk and we can always direct them from the chat to the IRC once they are there. So, I like to hear your oppinions on the comments below!

Shall we have enabled Wikia Chat here or stick to the IRC only?

Fire away people!

"No, cousin, I'm not bowling with you. Stop calling me, Roman!"

As a reminder, we are only 2 weeks away from the end of the very first Assassin's Wiki Giveaway, so if you haven't signed on yet, make sure you do before October 8th!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to Outback to celebrate with some friends and my sweetheart the fantastic happenstance of my birth =P

So that is all for today! Post your comments below – me and the staff want to hear your opinions! Safety and peace, and a good week to all!

Cello out.
