Desmond's Symptoms[edit source]

So, if Subject 16 used the Animus before Desmond, only to end up insane and suicidal in the end, is it possible that Desmond's symptoms seen in Assassin's Creed II will only get worse? We see that Desmond begins to "inherit" assassin skills, sure, but Subject 16 probably did as well in his "sane" days. We see in Assassin's Creed II that Desmond begins to experience brief hallucinations at first, which, as Lucy says, "shouldn't last longer than 30 seconds", which they don't......at first. Then, as Desmond is returning upstairs, we see additional hallucinations, these lasting longer than the first ones, but still only lasting about 20 something seconds by my count, maybe over 30, as they don't fade, instead leading up to Desmond's blacking out. Now, I may be wrong (sarcasm), but when Lucy says the hallucinations shouldn't last more than 30 seconds, it's quite probably that blackouts (which obviously last longer than 30 seconds) were apparent in Subject 16's symptoms alongside the normal hallucinations that we see as Desmond. And of course, let's not forget where Desmond finally wakes up: his bed. How'd he get to his bed from the hallway, where he blacked out? Not to mention that Lucy, Shaun, and Rebecca didn't seem to be very concerned with the fact that he blacked out (see two theories below).

1. The I hope this theory is the right one Theory:

Desmond didn't really "black out" in the hallway per se, but rather, he more like stumbled through the hallway, and into his bed, looking exhausted, all the while seeing himself as Altair in Acre. This leads Lucy, Shaun, and Rebecca to simply think that he's tired. Meanwhile, with Desmond, the hallucination continues to carry out in his dreams.

2. The I sure as hell hope this theory isn't true because it's just too awful Theory:

Seriously, before reading this theory, know that I do not want this theory to turn out correct. I honestly hope Theory #1 is correct. I just needed to put an additional theory out there, just in case, but that does not mean I like it.

Lucy, Shaun, and Rebecca discovered Desmond's body in the hallway, and carry him into his bed. When Desmond wakes up, they pretend nothing happened the day/night before because they're not really Assassins; they're undercover Templars, and Lucy still works for Abstergo. The whole thing was set up by Vidic to gain Desmond's trust in Lucy, and to gain more info via the Animus.

The point of this topic being, though, that Desmond better be careful with the Animus in AC3, or he'll wind up like his predecessor (did I spell that right?), or is Desmond an exception, because he's mentally stronger than Subject 16? Just something I think Ubisoft should take into account for the third game. Key of Destiny 01:34, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

  • Yes you spelled it right lol. All interesting theories, but it is probably the first one. He had the "dream" of him being Altaïr and then made it to his bed somehow. A fellow member Maria Thorpe thinks he was indeed helped to his bed, but she doesn't think there is a plot involved like you say in theory 2. They just brought him there and likely they didn't tell him too much of what happened, so he wouldn't get worried about the side-effects of the bleeding effect. -- Altaïr 09:14 am, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

Well, I'm certainly releived about the theory part, but that means that Desmond's symptoms do have the potential to get worse! Yikes! I hope Ubisoft takes this into account in AC3, otherwise there'll be a lot of plot holes. Key of Destiny 00:31, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

Of course they will. They took things from AC that no one noticed and developed it in AC2. -- D. Cello 01:51, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

Ah, that's right, I forgot Desmond's memorable quote: "Oh yeah, Subject 16. He painted my room, you know....with his BLOOD!" LOL! Key of Destiny 18:19, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

Desmond picked up Ezio's skills from the Animus 2.0 by the bleeding effect, could the same be done in the Animus 1.0 (1.27) because Desmond picked up Eagle Vision from his time in Animus 1.0 from bleeding effect by Altair. BleedingEffect 12:08, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

The Animus could be forged from a POE?[edit source]

Take a moment to read this;

Giovanni Borgia[edit source]

In Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy, Giovanni Borgia is the earliest known case to suffer from a sickness relative to the bleeding effect. Instead of hallucinations, he relieves the memories of both his father, Perotto Calderon, and his ancestor, Marcus Junius Brutus. This could have been a possible side effect from his exposure to the Shroud of Eden.

Would that theory grant us the possibility that the Animus was made/intergrated with a POE? I know it was made with supposed 'special tech' from Those Who Came Before; maybe a POE? --THIEF 23:19, December 15, 2010 (UTC)

Well, we know the Animus was based off First Civilisation technology, so it's entirely possible; however, it's still speculation at this point. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 00:03, December 16, 2010 (UTC)
Likely based on POE-tech, but unlikely to be integrated with one (too many Animi for it to be viable). But yeah, it's speculation at the moment. Rehevkor 14:43, January 1, 2011 (UTC)

Foreign Language[edit source]

I was wondering why didn't they make Desmond retain his ancestor's Foreign Language? I mean Desmond retain his ancestor Assassin's skill but not their language strange? They can make Desmond occasionally speak some foreign language when he talks to Lucy, Rebecca, and Shaun. They can joke, etc his ability to speak a foreign language. --Cococrash11 07:16, March 17, 2012 (UTC)

The only Animus Subject that can speak a Foreign Language is Daniel Cross and he's speaking it unconsciously. --Cococrash11 07:18, March 17, 2012 (UTC)

Shouldn't the top image show something more related to the Bleeding Effect than to Eagle Vision? The Altaïr flashbacks from AC2, or Daniel going crazy come to mind. ~ GI Auditore Comms Channel 02:13, December 16, 2012 (UTC)

Layla?[edit source]

Wasn't Layla exposed to the Bleeding Effect while reliving Bayek and Aya's memories before going up against Sigma Team? Galvatron III (talk) 01:51, September 23, 2018 (UTC)

Yes, she was. You can help us update the article. :D Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 04:32, September 23, 2018 (UTC)

Sages and Isu Reborn ?[edit source]

Can we considered that Sages and Isu Reborn suffered from some kind of Bleeding Effect ? Having vision of memories that aren't their own. Basim's Djinn and Nehal being manifestation of Bleeding Effect.Francesco75 (talk) 09:14, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
