Wool

Wool is a textile fiber that is obtained from shearing sheep's fur. Wool consists of protein intertwined with a tiny amount of lipids.
History
Wool has been cultivated and used throughout history, especially during the times of the Peloponnesian War,[1] Ptolemaic Egypt,[2], and the Viking Age.[3] In the Renaissance times, wool was the second popular good sold in the Mercato Vecchio, Florence.[4] In Rome, wool was obtained by Assassin Mentor Ezio Auditore da Firenze during his fight against the Templar Cesare Borgia.[5]
During the American Revolutionary War, wool was bought and sold as a commodity in the thirteen colonies. The Kanien'kehá:ka Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton frequently retrieved wool from Davenport Homestead's farmers, Warren and Prudence. With the wool, the homestead's seamstress, Ellen, crafted the Linsey-woolsey, sewing threads, and wigs, along with other needed materials.[6]
Behind the scenes
Wool garments trace back to early 4000 to 3000 BCE and was likely plucked by hand or bronze combs, before the invention of shears.[7]
