Victoria, Princess Royal (Victoria Adelaide Mary Louisa; 1840 – 1901) was the wife of the German Emperor Frederick III and as such was made German Empress and Queen of Prussia briefly in 1888 until Frederick III died just 99 days later. She was the eldest child of Queen Victoria and was heir until the birth of her younger brother, the future Edward VII.[1]

Biography

On 27 April 1865, in a Royal correspondence between her mother and her uncle Leopold I of Belgium, Victoria, affectionately calling her daughter "Vicky" noted that she had earlier sent Leopold an extract of a letter of hers to him pertaining to Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein. She went on to voice her plan to set him up with Victoria's sister, Helena.[2]
