Vesta was a prostitute who lived in Cyrene, Cyrenaica during the 1st century BCE.

Together with Akakios, they had a son named Oidipous, who was shunned by him from birth.

Trivia

  • Vesta shares her name with the Roman goddess of the same name (known in Classical Greek as Hestia) who was associated with fireplaces and the home and was served by the Vestal Virgins until the 4th century AD when Emperor Theodosius I banned the Greco-Roman religion.
