Vanessa
Vanessa was a scientist working in the LOCC in the year 2003, involved with the launch of the Beagle 2.
Biography
Immediately after the launch of the Beagle 2, Vanessa stole the results and routed them to her own laptop, making the mission seem a failure to the other employees and scientists. After that, she immediately left the building to deliver the laptop to her contact, Robert Getas. In the parking lot however, she was stopped by a security guard telling her she forgot to punch out. Recognizing the guard as someone she knew, the issue was easily resolved by signing a document, and her cover remained intact despite her initial worries of being discovered.
From there on, Vanessa went to the cafe where she was supposed to meet Getas, and she soon recognized him. Making his way over to her, the two of them began discussing her payment, with Getas telling her that the money had been transferred to her account. He added that the funds would stay frozen a while longer though, considering that the bank may begin asking questions with such large amounts of money passing hands.
After leaving the cafe, Getas proposed a new deal to Vanessa, who was hesitant. She told him the entire purpose of the deal that they had just made was for her to never have to work again, but she was scared by the look on his face and didn't dare to refuse either. As she asked him why he was suddenly so interested, he merely nodded. Upon stepping backwards, Vanessa bumped into a man, who covered her face with a piece of cloth, presumably soaked with a drug or anaesthetic, causing her to lose consciousness.
